Stu-UngarStuart Errol Ungar or popularly known as “Stu” is one of the best poker player in the history. He has won WSOP main event three times and has five WSOP bracelets. He is also a three-time winner of Slim’s Super Bowl of Poker which is one of the prestigious tournaments during his time. Though, his winnings ended when he was found dead in his room at Oasis motel. Earlier that month, he signed a contract with Bob Stupak who offered him to pay his finances and even debts in exchange of his winnings in the future.

His death was linked to drugs and even if he won millions of dollars, at the time of his death he has no assets under his name. Though there were no drugs of any kind found in his room and most of his cash that was given by Stupak in advance was gone. He had with him $10,000 in cash and there were speculations that two hookers went back with Ungar in his motel room.

He started using cocaine after the death of his mother in 1979. It was the advice of a friend to use cocaine during marathon events but it soon led to addiction. A lot of his friends have already advised him to enter rehab but he refused. Many have mourn his loss especially in the poker community. It is sad that a man like Ungar with great talents and achievements have lost to drugs.
